DAC204 – d/a converter + usb/dsd interface with DSD to PCM conversion.

Mechanics
The DAC204 is housed in a silver anodized aluminum frame.

Power Supply
Supplied with medical grade power supply. Optional power supply from our PSU101 discrete reference power supply.

Synchronization
The USB sampling frequency is generated with an internal master clock generator inside DAC204. This makes sure the transfer between computer and D/A Converter with low jitter. Digital Input A USB type B connector is used a connection to the computer. Toslink and SPDIF inputs are also supported. Extremely efficient Jitter attenuation.

Digital Outputs
There are one XLR socket, one BNC socket and one RCA socket. BNC and RCA sockets are driven by the same driver chip. DAC204 can work exactly the same as INT204 USB interface.

Analog Outputs
Connect your preamplifier to the output connectors of DAC204. Use either the symmetrical (balanced) lines (XLR) or the asymmetrical (unbalanced) lines (RCA). It is also possible to use both outputs simultaneously.

Front panel controls
There are eight LEDs to display power status and USB input sampling frequency. Toslink/SPDIF input has no indicator. A switch allows to select the sampling frequency when doing DSD to PCM conversion (176.4 or 88.2 kHz). Another switch selects the word-length when doing DSD to PCM conversion (24 or 16 Bit). A power switch handles the power on/off for the external power supply input.

Back panel elements
There is a power inlet for the external power supply, the USB connector, one RCA and one Toslink input connectors. Three digital output connectors (BNC, RCA, XLR), and analog outputs on XLR and RCA convectors. Two toggle switches for output level setting.

Jitter suppression
Several signal reclocking schemes are combined for a high jitter attenuation.

Analog Output Level
Two switches allow to se 4 different output levels at 10dB steps.

Software features

The DAC204 USB interface can do DSD to PCM conversion at selectable sampling frequencies and word-length (88.2 or 176.4 kHz and 16 or 24 Bit). The DSD input is in the DoP format with a sampling frequency of DSD64 (2.8224 MHz) and DSD128 (5.6MHz).

Main Feature
The DAC204 is Oversampling sigma delta D/A converters are used. Four D/A Converters per audio channel are operated in parallel for enhanced signal to noise performance.

Digital Inputs
There are two AES/EBU (S/PDIF) inputs on RCA and Toslink (optical) connectors. The sampling frequencies supported are 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4 and 192kHz. In addition there is a USB input which supports sampling frequencies of 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4, 192, 352.8, 384kHz plus DSD64/DSD128

Analog Outputs
The analog outputs are balanced on XLR connectors and unbalanced on RCA connectors. The XLR outputs have a 6dB higher level than the RCA outputs. The XLR outputs (XLR pin1 and pin3) must not be shorted to ground. i.e. there is no servo circuitry implemented. In addition there are three digital outputs with AES/EBU format on XLR, RCA and BNC connectors.
